Improved Health Living Initiative (IHLI)

The IHLI program of YIDO is focused to support people living with HIV/AIDS with ease of access to treatment and care as well as increasing awareness and support for Water, Sanitation and Hygiene initiatives in Kampala and Rwenzori regions.

Under our Improved Health Living Initiative (IHLI) program, YIDO subscribes to the 95–95–95 UNAIDS fast track strategy in ending the HIV epidemic envisioning that, 95% of people living with HIV will know their HIV status, 95% of people who know their HIV-positive status will be accessing treatment and 95% of people on treatment will have suppressed viral loads.

Supported 248 people living with HIV/AIDS

Currently, YIDO has supported by Baylor Uganda to strengthen interventions to improve viral load suppression among people living with HIV/AIDS, support health facilities in the management of non-suppressed clients and ART optimization for children and adolescents and work with community volunteers to support improve their adherence to treatment.

54 Community Outreach Campaigns on WASH were organized in 2019 in Kamwenge district.

With support from Sprouts water, YIDO has mobilised community outreaches to increase awareness on causes and prevention of waterborne diseases in Kamwenge district. Communities have been mobilised and supported on cleaning up their water sources, drink boiled water, regularly wash their hands and utensils, collect and keep water in clean and safe containers among others.

Supported by Baylor Uganda, YIDO has for the last 4 years engaged in educating and empowering vulnerable families with best nutritional practices and kitchen gardening to support the healthy living among the children
