Promoting Dialogue and Police Public Partnership

Partnering with Uganda Police Force and with support from DFID and IPA, YIDO believes in enhanced dialogue for improved police public partnership in strengthening community leadership and protection structures that respect the rights of women and children. This program is designed to support the improved connection between frontline community leaders, police officer and schools in ensuring safer societies that promote the values of women and children. This program is implemented under 144 villages from 36 sub counties under 10 districts distributed countrywide.

864 Community Watch Teams established and 720 village meetings organized in 144 villages in 10 districts.

Supported by the British Department for International Development (DFID), Uganda Police Force (UPF), and Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) YIDO worked with Local leaders to cluster villages into smaller manageable social structures with selected cluster leaders known as Community Watch teams in 144 villages from 36 Sub Counties under 10 Districts to support improve police public trust and partnership in strengthening crime prevention efforts.

10 district-based training workshops for front line local leaders and police officers organized.

Supported by the British Department for International Development (DFID), Uganda Police Force (UPF), and Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) organized the 2 days refresher training courses for frontline police officers and local leaders to ensure improved coordination and protection of communities from crime and social disorders.

Two (2) regional leadership and monitoring workshops for senior police officers organized.

Supported by the British Department for International Development (DFID), Uganda Police Force (UPF), and Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) organized district and regional police leadership workshops to strengthen intervention monitoring towards strengthening police public trust and partnership.
